[ILQSO] RE: Awfully Quiet

I'm only quiet here, because I'm too busy making noise out there, talking up the IL QSO Party in an attempt to get participation interest built up.  
 
I received a phone call Tuesday of last week from the head of our local ARES group, asking if I could help out with an event coming up the following Sunday.  I said I was pretty sure I could but to send me the information in an email regarding times and where to meet etc.  The email never came, but a phone call did on Saturday, asking again if I would participate and where to meet etc.  I committed myself to the event, and then mentioned how lucky he was to have reached me, as I only heard the phone ring because I'd just removed my headphones because I was looking for weak stations to work in the California QSO Party.  
 
Well, I found out that he is a past contester, but hasn't had a lot of time to do it lately.  So then he said that he did pretty well in the IL QSO Party one year, so I used the comment to let him know that it was coming up.  On Sunday I talked to a few of the other ARES group members and have a little interest building up with them as well.  On Thursday, during our local ARES and Information Weekly NET, the event was announced and interest generated there.  
 
There's 1 Week and 3 Days till the party.  That's plenty of time for you who participate in local and regional NETs to make last minute announcements during the traffic portion to build up a little last minute excitement.  I have 2 NETs I partcipate in on a regular basis, and 3 more occassionally that I plan to bring it up on.
