The 8 county mult for out of state would be a nice bonus for the out of
state guys. I agree with Chuck on this one. Something to think about for
next year.

Just like any event, participation is key. Hopefully the group of part
timers continues to grow. I was surprised by the number of guys giving
me 001. It's not that they don't know the exchange, it is just a good
indicator that they wanted to make some Q's and got on the air. I tried
to take the time to thank them and let them know the exchange format and
send them off looking for other IQP stations. I have received 20 + QSL
card requests for the event already and most say tnx for first contest Q or
need Lake Co. That is a nice benefit of this event.

Band conditions were really good, although I spend 6 1/2 hours of the 8
hours on 40m.

20m was good in all directions at the start of the event. In the first
hour(67 minutes) I worked 100 Q's on 20m ph, including 10 DX, 29 states and
4 VE's. As I mentioned before, I had to turn away from Eu as they were much
louder than the east coast. AL9A called me at 1803. I worked NE0P on
20m at 17:11 and he was good copy. The two Q's before him were NM, CA and
after him NJ AZ. I would say the band was good in all directions.

40m was good, but never went long toward the end. I had horrible noise on
80, so I had to spend the last 50 minutes on 40. For us in the midwest,
40m is the money band. I worked 48 states on 40m ph and every one called
me. I only made 18 CW q's and all were IL stations. Those were the only
Q's that did not call me. I had a 142 hour on 40m ph between 1816-1916.
However after that, rate was not that great.

The mobiles did a great job. As always, NG9R would come up to phone and
look for the IL guys CQing. I worked him in 8 counties.

Final Numbers

20PH 100
40PH 518
