Having participated in quite a number of state QSO parties over the =
years, some as a fixed station and others as a mobile or portable, the =
conclusion I have reached is that the success of a QSO party rests on =
the following, in no particular order:
-- advertising
-- tangible rewards
-- date selection
-- contest format
-- mobile participation
Focusing for the moment on the last issue, I would like to pose this =
question to anyone who has participated or might consider participating =
in a state QSO party as a mobile:
What helps determine whether or not you put out the effort to =
participate as a mobile in a particular state's party? Please rank the =
following, with number 1 being highest priority, and PLEASE ADD OTHER =
CHOICES!!!
___ Loyalty to a state, club or individuals participating
___ Likelihood of winning a category
___ Tangible rewards provided by sponsor (trophies, plaques, =
certificates, other)
___ Tangible rewards available based on level of achievement =
(T-shirts, coffee mugs that can be purchased)
___ Convenient and enjoyable way to spend part of a weekend
___ Length of contest
___ Rules format
___ Opportunity to try out my mobile/portable station and test my =
skills
___ OTHER: **Please list and be specific!!**
If you do NOT participate as a mobile station, please rank you reasons =
and add others:
___ No mobile station
___ Too far away
___ Inconvenient date
___ Contest too long
___ Contest too short
___ Just don't like mobiling in a contest.
___ Logging inconvenient or impossible when mobile.
___ OTHER: * List and explain*
I will compile the responses and post a summary. Please let me know if =
you do NOT want to be quoted directly.
