Hey troops,
It's 1 week, 6 days, and 54 minutes until ILQP.

It's time to not only be sure that your plans are being made, and posted to
the reflector, but also to start encouraging all your club members, regular
ham acquaintances, and any random stations you contact to show up for the
party. Participation in state QSO parties this year has been excellent, and
there is no reason to think that the 2003 version of ILQP won't be the
absolute best ever.

How about going over your last year's log and e-mailing those you worked
with a "thanks and come back this year!"?

With apologies to Mr. Letterman:

"Top 10 reasons to operate the 2003 Illinois QSO Party:"

10. Following the mobiles is great map-reading training. Invite your kids
to help.
9. Fall foliage.
8. Undying support for portable operations from legions of Japanese
ladybugs.
7. Camaraderie. Do a multi-op!
6. County corners. Three or four in one shot!
5. No slow Sunday afternoon. Sunday afternoon *IS* ILQP!
4. Illinois apples make a great October contesting snack.
3. Edible award for out-of-staters making 200 Q's or finding 75 counties!
2. Smell of burning leaves masks smoke from amp tubes.

And the number one reason is:

1. No county names as tough to pronouce as "Tuolumne".
