SATERN IS LOOKING TO EXPAND IN THE HEARTLAND

The Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) is looking to
expand its
Amateur Radio capability in the Heartland Division. According to Major Bill
Heaver K8EDS "The Salvation Army - Emergency Disaster Services has
recognized the need to expand our relationship with the Amateur Radio
community. Utilizing the SATERN program for auxiliary communications is
vital as we respond to community and regional disasters." We have a great
number of operators involved with our National HF nets. However, we need
Amateur Radio operators who are willing to be "boots on the ground"
volunteers. Individuals who are willing and able to provide communications
from Incident Command Centers, mobile canteens, and act as shadows to
command personnel. Those interested in applying may do so online:

http://www.disaster.salvationarmyusa.org or call our Emergency Disaster
Services department at (309) 655-7220, Ext. 200.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
