Ares and WillComm members and amateur radio operators,
BARS has asked us for assistance to help in the Pathway Parade tomorrow.
This is not a ARES ran event, but this is a great exercise from a last
minute, I need help from another. Just as anytime an ARES would be asked
in a disaster or help from a county or local municipality with a shorter
time frame or period of notification.
If one was to look at what you would be learning as a Practical exercise.
One would be from a command structure of net control and treated as a
evacuated route with ARES helping to assist in keeping traffic off path of
directed flow of a route until told to release that traffic into the flow
after the parade.
Any event can be a creative and yet learning experience. Listening to
directions with a large volume of noise around is a learning experience in
itself.
If your available to help at this event. follow the contact information
below.
I will be out there helping and using for myself as a practice exercise
also and hope to see ARES helping also, as we start practical training in
different environments that amateur radio is used in.
Remember. Amateur radio is used in all different areas of helping by
volunteering to support the communities. But also is a great way to get
used to protocols and such and learn little things in that environment such
as, watching kids around the area who are chasing the candy and could get
hit by a vehicle. Happens more that one thinks in parades.
Come out and help and have some fun,
Jerry Watts-K9LOT
