This is a reminder that the Elmhurst-based York Radio
Club will meet Friday evening (Oct. 19) to host an
important conversation about digital radio and
repeater frequency allocation. Please join us to learn
more about this topic from some of the area's top
experts.
Leading the discussion will be our special guest,
Robert Shepard, KA9FLX, who is the technical committee
chairman of the Illinois Repeater Association.
Bob will shed some light on the subject in words we
can all understand.
He's not coming to sell us on some new 'breakthrough'
proprietary solution, but will offer an overview of
what digital advances are occurring within our hobby
and how a transition from analog to digital might
work.
His credentials, accomplishments and bio can be read
at http://www.qrz.com/callsign/KA9FLX
The club also has several past and present Motorola
employees, skilled in digital radio, who will also
help with the discussion.
The meeting starts at 8 p.m. at the Elmhurst Fire
Department Training Facility, located one block west
of McDonald's on North York Road, 1/4 mile north of
I-290. See the link below for a map:
