Good Afternoon Gents,

I was stopped by the Chicago Police today near Milwaukee and Atrill because I had my new VX-177 in hand and having a QSO with WV9MJS on the York Radio Club Repeater, on the way to my local church. The officer stated that my radio was illegal, and that I was doing all sorts of nonsense. There were 4 plainclothes officers total.

They quoted some law or city ordinance regarding scanners / amateur radio. Upon showing them my license and ARRL membership card, they said it was Bull**** and that they were going to confiscate my stuff. Upon their search, they found on my person, a VX-170 2 meter HT as well. They said they had never seen it or heard of it, and reiterated their allegations without explaining the stop.

No arrest took place, and of course, I came back clean when they ran me.

What do I do now? Any experts on this out here? No police bashing please, this is serious.

What to do now?
