The North Shore Radio Club net Thursday, May 18, at 8:00 p.m. CDT invites all
amateurs to check in on 147.345 MHz, +600 KHz, PL 107.2 Hz.

In addition to local traffic, the net will include local hamfest and American
Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the RAIN Report and Amateur Radio
Newsline. The theme for the 2006 Dayton Hamvention is "Amateur Radio Is Public Service".
In the conclusion of Hap's interview with General Chair Jim Nies, he first
talks about the lodging challenges facing everybody at this late date. Also, Mark
Thompson, WB9QZB, is back after an extended absence (his choice) with one of
his Bites From QZB editorials. It has an ironic ring to it. His views don't
necessarily reflect those of this station nor folks connected with RAIN. Its
title? "The Death of Ham Radio is Not the Internet ... It is Obesity".

Amateur Radio Newsline reports a telecommunications industry leader calls for
more rescue radio bandspace, a drill is scheduled to test a tsunami warning
system and the BPL drama heats up in South Africa.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Marilyn, W9LUO, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and
Newsline, and after Newsline.

73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
North Shore Radio Club
