The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters February 9 for the 8:00
p.m. CST net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz, PL 107.2

Hz) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However, please check
2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator pause
for
about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to pick up
the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, this week's net will include the RAIN
Report and Amateur Radio Newsline. The RAIN Report is "CQ Addresses ARRL Bandwidth
Petition"  The FCC has assigned rulemaking number RM11306 to the so-called
Bandwidth by Regulation petition filed by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).
This proposal calls for the regulating of HF operations below 29 MHz by
bandwidth rather than by the traditional operating mode. Is this approach to
regulating the HF ham bands good or bad? That depends upon who you ask. For some
answers RAIN's Hap Holly, KC9RP, turned to Rich Moseson, W2VU, Editor of CQ
magazine and Editorial Director for both CQ VHF and Popular Communications.

Amateur Radio Newsline reports V-K hams go on brushfire alert, U-K hams
worry
that a museum closure will mean the loss of some historic call signs, a B-
P-L win in Idaho and an update on Suit Sat.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and after
Newsline.

Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
