The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters Thursday, April 20, for
the 8:00 p.m. CDT net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600
KHz, PL 107.2 Hz) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However,
please check 2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the
operator pause for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the
linkage to pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, this week's net will include the RAIN
Report and Amateur Radio Newsline. The RAIN Report is "The OO Program - Its Ups and
Downs"  As we edge ever nearer to the Dayton Hamvention, scheduled for the
weekend of May 19 in suburban Dayton, Ohio, we're featuring more forum
presentations from past Hamventions like this week's 2000 talk by Karl Morgan, K8CM, on
the ups and downs of the Official Observer (OO) program.

Amateur Radio Newsline reports the B-P-L battle heats up in the United States
and also down-under, another move to get 500 Kilohertz declared a C-W
memorial frequency and an explanation of the FCC's Red Light Rule.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and
after Newsline.

73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
North Shore Radio Club
