The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters Thursday, April 13, for
the
8:00 p.m. CDT net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600
KHz, PL 107.2 Hz) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However,
please check 2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the
operator pause for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the
linkage to pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, this week's net will include the RAIN
Report and Amateur Radio Newsline. The RAIN Report is "Navy/Marine Corps MARS - A
Work in Progress." The Military Affiliate Radio System, better known as MARS,
is an Amateur Radio message-handling system that involves both stateside hams
and deployed American military personnel abroad. MARS passed its traffic via
voice and Morse code entirely in the beginning; not so today, however. During
the 2005 MARS forum held at the Dayton Hamvention a representative from
Navy/Marine Corps MARS briefly spoke about the evolution of MARS.

Amateur Radio Newsline reports Australia may replace hams with Ultra Wideband

at 24 GHz, a tower rights law suit is filed in New Jersey, a B-P-L try-out
ends in Arizona and a Hollywood producer will launch the new Ham Radio Video
Corps at Hamvention 2006.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Marilyn, W9LUO, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and
Newsline,
and after Newsline.

73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
North Shore Radio Club
