We had hoped we'd at least get mention in ARRL IL Section News this month.
But I guess Dekalb is to far removed from NE District. So I thought I'd pass
it on. I'd also like to thanks to the Kishwaukee Radio Club as when they
found out Tom K9GPC and I were going, generously voted to give us $1000.00
to cover our trip expenses.

BARDS & BOUQUETS
Bouquet - A lot of people said that ham radio was a dying means of
communications, what with cell phones, the Internet, etc. But Bob Yurs,
W9ICU of Sycamore and Tom Lower, K9GPC of Rochelle proved the pundits wrong.
They set up a ham radio station that provided the Red Cross distribution
center in Gulf Port, Miss., communication with shelters and soup kitchens
throughout the state in the days following the hurricane that ravaged the
state. Their work made the difficult task of providing food to the needy a
little bit easier. And it is another example of how ham operators can help
out in time of emergency.
