The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters November 17 for the 8:00 
p.m. CST net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz, PL 
107.2 Hz) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However, please check 
2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator pause 
for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to pick up 
the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and 
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN 
report and AR Newsline. The RAIN report for this week is "Stateside Blind RDF 
Contest." Radio direction finding, RDF, also known as fox hunting, has never been 
viewed as blind friendly in the United States. That may change in the spring of 
2006 in Dayton, Ohio. Plans are for an RDF event designed for the blind and 
visually impaired. So says Dick Arnett, WB4SUV, Assistant plant Director for 
St. Elizabeth hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky. Dick has competed in three world 
and numerous stateside RDF contests. RAIN Founder/Producer, Hap Holly, KC9RP, 
recently spoke with Dick about the proposed contest. 

Amateur Radio Newsline reports ham radio aids in rescue efforts following a 
killer quake in Pakistan and a killer twister in the United States Midwest.  
Also, Australia gets a new licensing structure and LOVE is on the air in the 
U-K. .

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net 
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, 
and after Newsline.
