The North Shore Radio Club will link its Winnetka repeaters November 3 for
the 8:00 p.m. CST net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz,
PL 107.2 Hz) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz, PL 100.0 Hz). However,
please check 2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator
pause for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to
pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report for this week is "W2VU - A Lifetime of ham
Radio,"  Part One: Just how old were you when you became a ham? Four decades ago a
great many hams earned their novice call sign in high school. RAIN's
Founder/Producer, Hap Holly, KC9RP, was 14 and a  freshman at Escondido Union High
school in Escondido, CA. back in 1965. Rich Moseson, W2VU, was a junior at Spring
Valley Senior High in Spring Valley, New York in 1970. Today Rich is the
Editor of CQ magazine and Editorial Director for both CQ VHF and Popular
Communications. Over the next two weeks we'll hear how he got started in ham radio and
how ham radio lead him to his position with CQ Communications.

Amateur Radio Newsline presents graphic reports about ham radio's readiness
as hurricane Wilma made landfall in Mexico and the United States.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline,
and after Newsline.

73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
