DXCC CARD CHECKING AT THE STARVED ROCK HAMFEST JUNE 5th
I plan to be at the 2005 Starved Rock Hamfest by 9 AM Sunday
morning the 5th of June. I will be available to check DX QSL
cards for the ARRL DXCC Award program until early afternoon.
If you plan to present QSL cards for me to check, please
carefully review the rules for field checking as posted on
the ARRL webpage:
http://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc/
The items you will need to submit are to me are:
1. The completed application form (including the expiration date of your
ARRL membership). This form may be downloaded from the ARRL
webpage.
2. Completed DXCC record sheets listing the cards you are submitting.
Please carefully read and follow the instructions at the top of the form
on how to sort and list the cards. Pre-sort the cards by band and then
by mode and then according to the DXCC list within each of these groups.
Make sure each card clearly shows the call of the station, your call,
the QSO date, band and 2-way mode.. When listing the QSO date
on the record sheet use the DD/MM/YY format. This form is also
available for download from ARRL.
3. I am not allowed to check 160M cards, cards for QSOs more than
10 years ago or cards for deleted entities. Cards where the data has
been altered or overwritten cannot be field checked.
4. Your cards must be pre-sorted in the same order as they appear on the
DXCC record sheets you submit.
5. There is a $10 fee for the initial DXCC application and for that you
are allowed to submit up to 120 QSO's (not cards!). You may send
a check or submit your credit card info to cover this fee. Cash is not
recommended. For QSO's in excess of 120 there is an additional
$0.15 per QSO charge. For endorsements, there also is a $10.00 fee
for the first one each calendar year. Additional submissions each
calendar year require a $20 fee. In each case 100 QSO's are
included, above that they are $0.15 each.
6. You are required to submit a business size envelope pre-addressed to
ARRL - DXCC
225 Main Street
Newington, CT 06111
with 1 unit of postage affixed and WITHOUT a return address. I use
this to forward your processed application to the DXCC desk.
7. Large submissions may require that I take the cards home with me to
check. In this case, the applicant is required to select the method of
shipment I will use to return them to him and to furnish funds for any
fees involved.
If you are sure you will be at Princeton with cards to check, I would
appreciate knowing this ahead of time just to give me an idea of the
workload I can expect. You may emanil me with this info or with
any questions you may have at na9q at arrl.net . I will answer as
soon as I can
See you at the Sunday session of the 2005 Hamfest,
