The North Shore Radio Club will again link its repeaters on January 20 for
the 8:00 p.m. net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL
107.2 Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0 Hz.). It's suggested
that the operator pause for about a second after keying the microphone to
allow the linkage to pick up the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report this week features "Steppir Antennas - Outside the
Box"  Those of you who have used yagi-type antennas on 20, 15 or 10 meters
know the limitations of this compromise antenna design. All that has now changed
with Steppir Antennas. This week RAIN Founder/Producer, Hap Holly, KC9RP,
speaks with Mike Mertel, K7IR, Founder and President of this Washington-based
company that is changing the way folks view fixed-element beams.

Amateur Radio Newsline includes a story about the European Union saying no to
B-P-L, ham radio tsunami relief continuing and a trip to the Consumer
Electronics
Show in Las Vegas with Gordon West WB6NOA. Other topics of interest to hams
will also be covered.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in.  Check-ins are taken by net
control at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and after
Newsline.

Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
