The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters August 25 for the 8:00
p.m. net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL 107.2
Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0 Hz.). However, please check
2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator pause
for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to pick up
the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.

In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report notes that broadband over power lines (BPL) has
become a major nemesis to Amateur Radio and other 2-way services that operate
between 2 and 80 MHz. While the electrical powers that be are touting BPL's
ability to deliver broadband Internet access to rural America, there are those who
doubt it will fly when push comes to shove. One of those is Alan Pitts,
K1AGP, Media and Public Relations Manager for the ARRL, the American Radio Relay
League. (8 minutes)  Alan's BPL observations were voiced during his talk given
at the 2005 Dayton Hamvention in Dayton, Ohio.

Amateur Radio Newsline reports that hams in Hungary take part in a 6 meter
experiment that makes them rare D-X.  Also, P-C Sat 2 is on the air from the
I-S-S and more schools join the ARRL Big Project.

All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Mark, WA9IVH, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline, and
after Newsline.

Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
