That is a very bad way to connect a radio. Power spikes from the starter can render a radio useless. You are better off connecting the radio directly to the battery and using the power ON/OFF switch on the radio once the vehicle is started. The battery provides a little filtration when you are directly connected to it but will not completely filter all the spikes.
