[ICOM] IC-706 to hf amplfier

I finally dug my IC-706 M II G out of the box and would like to hook it up to my Alpha 9500 auto tune hf amplifier.
I have the OPC-599 cable and a correct 7 pin male connector for ACC2 interfacing.
However checking in the manual page 6, it is not clear as to which pin I should use, pin 3 which is Hsend or pin 6 which is V send! Also, is it safe to hook it up directly without an interface relay?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
