The JA radio companies are not good at stocking parts for older items.
The old single band 10w units like the Icom 251A, 451A, 551A and had a
problem where the LED screen went dark and the radio worked fine but you
had no clue what frequency you were on unless you hooked it into a
frequency counter. This happen at least 20 years ago! Similar problem
with the 756PRO with the monochrome screen. Apparently there is a Dutch
ham that can repair it if you send him your screen.

> Hi, my 706 LCD display was perfect until put in storage for the hurricane last October in Florida. Now the center of the LCD has a oval fuzzylook. I assume (guess) the low barometric pressure allowed dust to be sucked in and blur the display. I removed the two tiny screws and the first back plastic cover. I removed the knobs and control nuts and don't see what else holds it together. Has anyone successfully disassembled one of these display units? Is it possible that the LCD display was damaged by the low pressure. ICOM parts says they have no LCD's in stock.
