Hello Jim,
Sounds like there is an ic gone bad in your rig. Go to the YouTube link
below and watch this 2-part video about M0MXM repairing an old IC-756.
Not the same rig as yours but similar symptoms it may help you track
down the problem. It helped me to find a problem in my IC-756 Pro III
in January 2015. Tight in the middle of the FT5ZM dxpedition to
Amsterdam Island I lost the display in my Pro III, fortunately I was
using Ham Radio Deluxe so I could control all the rig's functions on my
computer monitor until the dxpediton was over. I happened upon the
YouTube video by chance and even though the IC-756 and the Pro III
circuit boards have a completely different design and lay out I was able
to find the fault from the video. In my case it was just a 100 hy choke
that opened and prevented dc voltage from getting to the dc - dc
converter that supplied power to the display back-light. Don't expect
any help from Icom because when I contacted them for the part giving
them their own part number I was told my Pro III was obsolete and they
didn't stock parts for old radios even though the same part is used in
the IC-7600. I asked the person at Icom to cross reference the Pro III
part to the IC-7600 part but no help at all said it couldn't be done. I
was able to buy 6 - 100 mh chokes from a vendor on eBay for $5.00 smf
repaired my Pro III. Hardest part was disassembly of the front panel to
get at the bad choke. Again the youtube video showed me how to do the job.
Good luck on finding the problem and repairing your Pro II.

In addition the TFT display is blank. and if I remember correctly it will not transmit either. I have tried resetting the radio according to the manual. I have tried searching this list archives but had to do it manually since I can not find out how to do an automated search (any help appreciated)
