Thomas, check in your manuals to see what the keying requirements are for
the AL-80B and see what the ratings are for the T/R relay of your Icom. In
the past Icom T/R relays were only rated at 16v 50ma which most linears
would fry the T/R relay without a "soft keying interface" 73, de gary, kd9sv

Subject: [ICOM] IC-7410 With ARB-704 And AL-80B
I purchased an Ameritron AL-80B and the Ameritron ARB-704 buffer interface
for my Icom IC-7410.
The question is can I use a regular RCA male RCA male cable between the
ARB 704 "Radio" jack and the RCA (#8 in the manual) SEND CONTROL JACK {SEND}
jack of the IC-7410 for keying?
Or do I have to use the 13 pin DIN jack and the AME-PNP-13D cable?
I'm thinking that I can just use a simple RCA male RCA male cable between
the interface and rig but it's been so long since I used and Ameritron
amplifier with and Icom rig that I can't remember for sure!
Any comments would be much appreciated.
