[ICOM] 756 pro II problem

Something very strange is going on with my PRO II. I was using a PRO for weeks without issues. I upgraded to a PRO II and sold the other. Sometime last Sunday with the radio just receiving the power supply Astron 35 got super hot. So hot it was melting the cord. I had the supply totally check out and nothing was wrong.

In meantime I have been using a Astron 20M (for over a week) with the meter in the amp position and this morning after the radio was on for about 10 mins I went to transmit and saw the display blinking. I looked at the meter and it was drawing 20 amps just in receive mode. I shut off the radio and it was still drawing 20 amps. I turned off the supply disconnected the radio and the amps were zero. I reconnected the radio and it works perfect! Anyone have a clue what could be wrong?
