My 756 Pro works the way you want.
K1EL Winkeyer in the rear, straight key jack, run by logging macros.
Paddles in the front playing the internal keyer.

Book should be on Icom's site.

Can someone tell me if the rear panel
 straight key jack on the
746Pro stays active when when front panel Elec-Key jack is
 set
to Elec-Key or Bug? Does the front key jack act in parallel
 with
the rear jack when set to straight key?

The radio belongs to the club and I have limited access to
 play
with it. I would like to find out if I can use the rear jack

with an interface and the N3FJP Field Day logger macros
 while
still allowing the CW operator to use the key of his/her
 choice
 from the front panel jack.

 Thanks,
 Mike kc9doa
