For those interested in HF Mobile operation, there is an interesting
discussion going on that your welcome to participate in.

===============================
Over the last few months a lot of different topics have been covered
about HF Mobile.
Many of my comments have been rather specific and detailed about
equipment, antenna's, installation and operation.
Am wondering now if there is not some value to getting back to the
basics. After all, we don't normally launch into various aspects of our
hobby with full blown systems. Generally I suppose we start out simple,
using what we have, make, modify, can borrow or buy on the cheap.
With that in mind, I would like to propose that those who are already
into hf mobile, encourage, support and aid others to join in, but to
focus on just the basics. What about encourage those that have never
done hf mobile, to give it a try at the most minimum level using what
they already have, or can get their hands on.
Point being?
Unless the HF Mobile Bug bites one, no need to go the extra time and
expense. However note that the effort for the most basic system still
requires most of what better systems can grow out of this initial
exploring effort. Such as:
* Power take off location, and safety
* Antenna to use, and safety
* How and where to mount antenna
* Where to place mobile radio and safety
In other words, what is the minimum it takes to get on the air from a hf
mobile that can drive at high way speeds, using what is at hand or
cheaply available.
If and when the bug then really takes hold, the HF Mobile System can
grow as time, budget and equipment becomes available to enhance the
operation. Not to mention discovering how useful HF Mobile Operation can
be to an individual operator, but also as a resource to support other
aspects of amateur radio activities.
