It would appear that one or more of the earliest stages of the receiver has
experienced a failure. If you are not skilled or equipped to troubleshoot
this type of problem, it is likely time for the radio to take a vacation to
an authorized ICOM repair facility if not the Bellevue WA HQ of IcomAmerica.

A quick look at the schematic for the R-7000 shows several possible failures
including:

1. An open or short in the antenna input circuit
2. A short in the attenuator circuit
3. There are FETs fed by the antenna input circuitry. Some of these FETs
are sensitive to surges, static or simply strong input signals. If one of
these fails, the receiver will be deaf.
4. There are plenty of places in the input circutry of the receiver for an
open to occur which would make the radio deaf.

If you are not comfortable pursuing this type of troubleshooting, send it
off. ICOM service is not cheap. They will provide an estimate for $35 (I
believe) and won't proceed without your approval.

If they spend a few hours making the repair and aligning the receiver, be
prepared to pay over $100 for the work plus shipping.

There are other ICOM authorized service centers. Malcolm Technical Service
has been highly praised here. Contact a few and you should be able to find a
good service option.

Good luck!
