George,
I suspect that internal pot within the mic is for the DTMF level. Icom
removed the mic gain pots years ago. Seems over the years the pots were all
set the same when using test gear to set up the transceiver so no reason for
a pot. You might have a look at the schematic as there may be a fixed value
resistor you can change to increase the mic gain.

Subject: [ICOM] ICOM IC-208H mic gain question
I've had two IC-208H microphones and I get reports of low mic gain. I've
tried the different settings referred to in the owner's manual, without much
reported difference. I've also opened the insulation behind the aperture in
the mic itself. Is there an internal pot adjustment, or part replacement
that can be used for this purpose? I'm also looking for about a 2 ft.
coiled mic 8-conductor cable for the HM-133 on it also!
Thanks and 73 - George, N9EJS
