Patrick: The remote input on most Icom radios is a CI-V input, 3rd party adapters for which are very inexpensive. Some for less than $10 including the drivers. Try a CI-V adapter input on E-Bay and look at the offerings.

So the question is, can a USB cable be canabalized to segregate the data lines from the power lines, solder a 3.5 mm plug to the data lines and be able to make a direct connection from the PC USB port to the remote jack on the IC-718?
