[ICOM] PW-1 question

Sam: I am certain it is possible to connect a K3  or any radio for that matter with an Icom PW-1. The question is should you? Yes with a suitable interface, you can make it key,  track and follow band to band.  But understand this. With most solid state amplifiers, the exciter to amplifier ALC loop is an important part of the amplifiers protection. Yes, you can omit it, and hopefully ride the exciter's power output control. Many exciters have a leading edge spike on key up, and this spike along with your non perfect human memory will one day fail and possibly cause a failure in your $4,000 amplifier. Just adding something for you to think about. BTW, there is an interface schematic for a Yaesu VL-1000 amp to Icom exciter on AB4OJ's web site. A review of that site should offer some insight as to what may be involved. Good Luck.

I know of a Yaesu connecting to the PW-1.  Look  around for it on the web
it is some where on there.. I think you will be  able to use the PW-1 with a
K3 radio...   Mark W2YM  73's.

I purchased a K-3
at Dayton but have  not received it yet and have sold my PW-1 to buy
a new Acom  Amp
