[ICOM] CI-V from USB - schematic ?

Jim,
How are you testing it? It is serial data, looking at it with a
dvm is useless, not sure about a scope, haven't tried that method.
If you're plugging into your computer, and trying to use it on
Commander, it won't work, even with good hardware, unless you set up
the correct ci-v address. You can look in your menu on the 706Mk2 or
the Pro2, see what address they are set up to in the radio, and match
it in Commander setup. I get the cheapest CI-V cables from Hong Kong
on Ebay, every one of them have worked flawlessly. You also need to
be sure your CI-V cable matches your radio. I picked up a couple of
the CT-17 Icom units (cheap- guess for a reason), they wouldn't work,
then I discovered they were made for some odd model of Icom, and were
not wire for data on tip, ground on ring. Rewired it, now all is
happy. I'd suspicion that if you tried 3 CI-V cords, none worked, you
are dealing with other issues, as I've mentioned above. You get the
right CI-V cord and HEX address in Commander, and it will take right
off. I've had a 706Mk2, Pro, Pro2, and Pro3 on mine, they all work
flawlessly, after getting the right address change into Commander.
