[ICOM] IC-7100

While it looks a little tall, there are some circumstances where this might
work.
My current mobile situation, utilizing a Brand X transceiver has the head
mounted atop the steering wheel column. The top half of the steering wheel
is open and the controls are very viewable and accessible. The only part of
the dashboard I can't readily see is the shifter position indicator for my
on column shift lever. A slight raising of my head allows it to be seen.
The real beauty is that I need only drop my eyes a few degrees from the road
view to see the display and controls.
I have my doubts per the size of the IC-7100 head that it would work in my
present vehicle, but it might. There may be vehicles (trucks?) that have
ample space above the steering column to allow for a fairly unobstructed
view of the dashboard.
I'll be looking forward to Adam letting us know about the receiver in the
IC-7100. I wonder if it is more similar to the IC-7000 or IC-7200. ...or
perhaps a new design.

I don't see this thing being "mobile". Motor home, yes, limited space, yes,
great for RVers or campers, driving down the road mobile, no.
First, where do you put it, no table in my vehicles. It is innovative in
physical design and actually practical for desk use especially for those
people who have problems with radios sliding when they poke the buttons.
Mic mount to control head where it should be and speaker remote from body
and of reasonable size also excellent. Seems it would "fit" into an office
environment on your desktop for background monitoring and part time use
while "working". Lots of features, but mobile? Don't think so.
Love HF mobile for years (706 MkIIG barefoot).
Just an opinion, fire suit on.
