Hi Clete,

There was also a story going round that the US military "un-mothballed" scores of Collins rigs during Desert Storm in 1990: seems that static electricity from blowing sand there was playing havoc with solid state rigs in Kuwait...

I kinda had my doubts as to the validity of this---until about a year, or so, after hostilities, suddenly Fair Radio Sales in Lima, Ohio, had TONS of used Collins stuff for sale...!
