Way back there was a rumor that the Air Force had stashed some
Collins S-Line, and other tube type equipment, in the mountains of
Colorado. Idea was to prevent ESD from atomic near hits. I do know
that some equipment was stocked, but that was not the reason.
Excellent environmental control for long term storage was easier
there. Like the reasoning when data processing and data storage
companies bought all the ex-AT&T underground sites they could get.
I lost one Kenwood, and one Philco antique radio to ESD.
