Interesting thread. Living here in northern New York, we have some very wicked lightning especially during the summer months and yet I have never been zapped. Most of the time, I simply disconnect my coax, and so far so good. I did see a tall oak tree about 1/4 mile away get blown to bits by lightning, but no problems here in the shack. I have an insurance policy just in case.
