Heh heh heh - I carry my station on my back most of the time. The IC-703+
weighs about 5 pounds, and the FT-817 weighs about 2.5 pounds. But then - I
would not even consider taking my IC-781 portable. No 120 VAC rocks in the
desert!

The problems with radios like my IC7700 is that it is heavier than it
looks and it is unbalanced.

I think if I ever had to ship my 7700 overseas I would bolt it to a
board and encapsulate it in at least ten inches of high-pressure applied
Styrofoam and then double-box *that*! Then, of course, there are
heavy-duty Pelican cases that would be suitable for multiple trips and
the list goes on and on. Thankfully, I don't have to do that a lot.... :)
