You have not indicated the antenna SWR. Have you checked it lately?
You could have a connection gone bad that is causing the RF stage to fold
back the power.
I would suspect that before anything else, since you indicated that it was
ok connected directly to a dummy load. Even the Autek meter and
interconnecting cables could add some SWR into the loop. The Autek is an
analog meter and even in the peak reading position, it is subject to some
delayed response on voice peaks.
A steady tone is a much better test signal than speaking into the Mic. A
steady whistle is a better check. If you don't have a two-tone generator or
audio generator of some sort, I would suggest you Download NCH tone
generator. It provides fixed tones in several formats. Just load and select
a tone and place the Mic in front of your computer speakers or use your
soundcard digital interface to the radio.
