Patrick,
Just so you know Icom radio's only meet the published receive
specification with the preamp enabled.
Its always been that way.
Maybe doing a comparison like you are think with the one at the store
would be good. Also go through the set up as the manual says. There is
so much more functionality in the IC-7000 than the IC-718 has the
receive could be lots different especially how the filters are cranked in.
