Hi Gary,
I called ICOM Headquarters parts department yesterday and posted the
following. They do indeed have a tool. The name is SPANNER-K and is supplied
by ICOM Japan. The cost is $105. Nothing realistic showed up on a Google
search.
I am working on Plan-B and grinding down a 3/8" x 1/4" drive deep socket.
I talked with my neighbor who was a Snap-On tool dealer a few years ago and
he cannot remember such a tool. I was not able to catch up with one of the
distributor trucks yesterday so no info yet.
One of the fellows on the reflector mentioned K-D tools has car antenna
spanner sockets so Snap-On may have the same kind of thing as well as other
Tool Manufacturers. However, nearly everything that pops up is $45 to $95.
Hence my Plan-B.
Thanks for the info.

When I was at Icom America, the factory had someone manufacturer those
tools for them. I had heard Snap-ON had a set but I do not know the
actual tool number. The one's Icom had made some 12 years ago appeared
to be made on a bench grinder.
I am unsure of the proper nomenclature but think they are called a dog
type spanner as the two "pins" are also referred to as dogs in some
circles. Icom used to have a few for sale, don't know if they still do
or what the cost would be.
