Win 7 is a good OS, BUT it does not like to play nice when networking
with other OS's
don't use the Network Neighborhood. It is possible to configure it like
you did XP physically to use either static or DHCP addressing.
You *may* need to use a router and clone the MAC addresses. There are
ways of working around its "I know what's best for you" (sounds like a
progressive<:-)) )
I'm using XP Pro, Win 7 64 Bit Ultimate, and Fedora in multi boot
configurations on most of the machines here. I'm going to have to add
at least one copy of Win 7 U, 32 bit due to some expensive legacy
hardware that has no 64 bit drivers. At least they now have them for
Win 7 32 bit. Originally they were not available for Vista (which I
hated) or Win 7. At least they are now available in 32 bit mode for Win 7.

You may need to come up with a specific driver, or hopefully the network
drive is configurable to the work group you would normally use.
