I had a 751A for 10 years and it ran flawless. I just remember there were problems with the no A version. You can read all the reviews and any issues at EHAM, note that the 751 only scored a 4.4 and the 751A scored 5.0! Very FEW radios ever made have scored a perfect 5.0 out of a 5.0! The 751A is by far one of the best radios ever built. Good luck, Gil

If you want to replace the battery for good here is a simple board replacement as I installed it and it is very easy to do:

Good Day All,

I'm in the market here for a good used Icom 751A transceiver, but I've seen
ads for its predecessor---the 751---with prices that are, on average, some
$100.00 less than the going rate for the "A" model...

Does anyone know just what changes took place in the design & execution
between these two rigs, that might account for this difference...?
Performance-wise, I've heard everything from "....there is NO difference in
the two," to, "...the 751 is a dog."

IS there a definitive answer out there...?

Thanks in advance, & my vy
