At present I have one of the older 756 Pro rigs which I plan on keeping.
(I've never had a complaint with that 756 Pro) I also have both the Icom
7000 and Yaesu 897D which I do not plan on keeping. That band scope has
spoiled me and I really despise rigs that have to use menus 3 layers
deep. The little ones make good back up rigs, but I use them so seldom
I always have to resort to the manual be it on-the-road, or from the
home station which eliminates a lot of the utility for which I want the
backup rigs.
However I'm looking at getting ether the 9100 probably without the $850
1296 option, or a competitor's latest offering that doesn't have 144 or
440 but two complete receivers and a wide dynamic range for only a bit
more money.
I think I can use my computers and available software (Ham Radio
Deluxe?) to get a good real time band scope display from either of
them. OTOH remote as well as the ability to use the 9100 on my network
just might eliminate the need for the SO2R set up here. That might be
the deal breaker. Currently one station is here in the Den and the
other (756 Pro driving an Emtron DX-2sp) is out in my shop with a 6-pack
at the base of the big tower.
Too bad I can't try/use both side by side for about a month chasing DX
on 75, 40, 20, and 6-meters this time of year. DX on 75 and 40 this time
of year would really put a receiver and noise reduction system to the
test. <:-))
