No and Yes in that order.
Also reaching over and touching bare grounded metal such as the mike 
connector or even front panel screws on the amps, antenna tuner, or 
dummy load.  It acts like a pin one problem, but the shield in the mike 
goes to chassis ground when I did have a pin one problem.

Lets see...Did I mention finding the Amphenol N connector that had 
separated?  That was a problem but only on the air.

A Heil, Pro Elite arrived yesterday afternoon.  Using it and with the 
monitor on I no longer have the problem I had before, or at least it's 
not as bad.  I still need to get the ham who lives about a mile and a 
half from me to listen to see what it sounds like.  Yes, I can drive it 
into distortion by turning up the compression and it goes into 
distortion much sooner than it used to.  But it appears I can at least 
turn the compressor on with the control up to about 9:00 o'clock. That 
barely shows a kick on the compression meter where I used to run around 
15 db with it sounding good.

So on to a bit more testing.
