Ron, No Problem and understand about "Misery Week". I have them quite often.

another item I noticed is that over the years some of the board mounting screws were not snug so I went through the whole box checking them , just like a motherboard, heat expansion and age will usually show up as loose mounting and ground points..
 also : call me nuts, but I moved the speaker outboard to allow additional air circulation..  

But I love these old 76x rigs.

Randy, if I already answered, please forgive me, it's been one of those weeks!
You are NOT exaggerating the sensitivity of the problem. I tried 'lightly' tapping around the radio trying to locate the general area that was problematic.
If I had not experienced the 'flea jumping sensitivity' of this problem first hand, I would NOT have believed it.... ha ha
I am now going through the SAME type of problem on several Green Laser sights mounted on different rifles. MADDNING!!!!
