[ICOM] opinions needed - 706 finals

I don't recall a problem with the finals in the 706 series, other than
they (pre15XXX) are not available any more. Has there been a rash
failures I have not heard about? I'm still running mine with no
problems(knock on wood) and I purchased mine when they first introduced
the G model. I also have another one I am considering selling to fund a
project for the new car. I've run mine mobile since day one and have
always kept an eye on the swr and made sure things were ship shape and
have had no problems. If they do go out, then you have a SW receiver and
scanner and a reason to get a new rig. Yes I know thats not a good way
to look at it but at least you have something left of the radio. Far
different than if the compressor goes out in your refrigerator, then you
have nothing but a disposal fee to look at. Has there been a failure
problem related to anything other than negligence ?.......Rick
