[ICOM] opinions needed

To me a lot of it depends on how serious you are about hf and operating. I'm a casual operator and from now I'm refusing to spend a bunch of money on a radio that may need repair and then get shipped only to have Fed EX or UPS destroy it. Next hf rig I buy will be something basic and at the lower end of the price scale. My recommendation ? IC-718  or Yaesu FT- 450 and one of the many great dual banders that are out. That way if one fails you still have the other.

I have decided to give up my 706Mark2G due to the issue with
the finals. I was wondering what does everyone think about
new vs old radios for reliability and repair? I need to get
something to replace the 706 but not sure which way to go
now. Another "all in one rig" or a couple separate radios
for HF/6 and VHF/UHF?
Any thoughts, opinions, insights would be greatly appreciated.
