[ICOM] IC-718 antenna tuning and SWR

Correct, the IC-718 is AM/SSB/CW/RTTY only.

The CW mode was set to full break-in as per the manual. So am I correct that in CW mode with the PTT engaged the transmitter produces no carrier unless the electronic DIT or DAH key is pushed (which, by the way, doesn't require the PTT button)? And while in RTTY mode the PTT does produce a carrier? With respect to CW and PTT the manual is a little confusing or misleading.

Ahh, I should put my HTX-10 on the air to listen for the signal generated in both CW and RTTY modes from the IC-718 on 10m.

Going to continue working with the Tx and antenna after work today.

Thanks for all of your encouragement. Will report when all is finally good.

The IC-718 does not have FM and the Tune button does nothing unless an
Icom or similar tuner is attached.
He needs to use CW mode with a CW key and BK-IN enabled, AM mode and
press the PTT on the mic, RTTY mode and press the PTT to send a carried
to check SWR.
