[ICOM] PRO II

I bought a Pro II from a ham friend in December for $1500 with power supply and Heil adapter. I had checked the prices of used Pro II's on qth.com, Ebay, qrz.com, etc. The $1500 was in range. I've never seen one for less than $1300. I got the Pro II because of RTTY. Don, AA5VU, wrote a glowing report on the Pro III and, after a few e-mails with him, decided that the Pro II would serve my needs for SO2R. I had the FT-1000MP for my main radio and a FT-990 for radio #2.

I sold the 990 and moved the MP to Radio #2. The Pro II, in my opinion, contributed to my first place in the ARRL RU Great Lakes Division this past January.

I couldn't afford the Pro III; so, the Pro II was my second choice. I'd love to have a 7600 but it's too expensive for my needs.

I would disagree that there isn't a market for the Pro II or Pro III. Not everyone can afford $4000 radios. There are many hams that buy used gear to update there station. I haven't bought a new radio since 1970. Like used cars, used radios are fine, depending on the operator's needs and budget.
