[ICOM] IC-745 Meter Lamp Replacement

I typically - well - wait.... I just sent a message to the list a few days ago
- let me see if I can find it.

Ahhhh - I can't find it - so let me re-type it for you.

I usually start off with some high-intensity 5mm LEDs. Color of your
preference.

Holding them in my fingers, I very gently hold them up to the side of a bench
grinder to grind off the dome lens. Then I carefully work the sides away -
first in a square, then again in an octagon. This makes them quite small and
diffuses the light instead of focusing it.

I next clip one lead at about 1/8". I get a small 470 ohm resistor and clip one
lead at 1/8". I solder those clipped ends together, then install it in the
place of the bulb.

Polarity matters in LEDs, not so much in bulbs.

Hope this helps.
