[ICOM] WTB: IC-215

Mike,

Magnificent dogs!
Our current dog is a 38 lb male Puggle who is two years old and wonderful,
playful and fun! As Puggles go, he's a bit large which is fun, because he
straddles the size range out of normal range for toy dogs! I'm not a toy
dog guy, but my wife wanted a smaller dog than the Black Labs we had
previously.

Lucky loves to go hiking and walking with us, though it never seems that we
go far enough! One time, my wife and I took a five mile walk to the grocery
store and we were chatting to folks on 2m (TH-F6A)and on 40m (IC-703+) to
check out local backpack portable propagation. In my pack on the return
trip, we added a frozen turkey because my wife realized that our food store
purchases had entitled us to a free bird (no not FREEBIRD :-) ). I can say
that the addition of the frozen bird did not impact the effectiveness of the
IC-703 or the interest of my dog! Perhaps we needed a fresh bird with
better conductivity and scent properties!
:-)

Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT

Well - not quite. I show a dog too, but I do obedience and rally, so I get
done
quickly.

That little FT-817 is perfect for the rest of the boring hours though. It
is
truly everything in one radio, the only band I miss is 1200 MHz. I use two
reels of Teflon wire and an Elecraft T-1 auto-tuner.

I did look long and hard at the IC-703. But the FT-817 also does all-mode
2m
and 70cm. So I can do hill-topping with it on the V/UHF contests too.

Truth - most of our travels don't have anything 1200 MHz in the area. Only
the
big cities like San Antonio and Dallas have something. For those places I
have
my IC-901 set up, and my IC-T81 for at the shows.
